Sarapeion Ptolemy II Tablets

Another Ptolemaic foundation deposit, with inscribed plates of gold, silver, copper, and terracotta, was found in 1885 in the Sarapeion and resides in the Graeco-Roman Museum in Alexandria, Egypt. The gold plate, inscribed with the name of Ptolemy II in Egyptian hieroglyphs and text in Greek is shown here.
